Things to Do
Top things to do in Westport
Enjoy life on the beach
There are 18 miles of sandy beach so there are lots of options to enjoy the beach: take a stroll or run in the sand, fly a kite, build sandcastles like the pros, go for a swim—the list goes on. Or you could opt for the slower pace: Spread a blanket on the sand, light a beach bonfire and savor a picnic dinner as the blazing sun melts into the Pacific. Beach access is just north of the condos and there are many other public beach approaches which allow cars, so choose a stretch of sand and stake a claim!
Walk, Bike, or Run the Lighthouse Dune Trail
Stretching 2.5 miles from the condos to "the jetty" and on to the Westport Marina, the dune trail is a unique experience through the natural dune environment. Panoramic views of Washingtons coast and snow capped Olympic mountain range offer stunning views.
Tour Washingtons tallest lighthouse
Grays Harbor light is a favorite visitor stop any time of year. This historic lighthouse was completed in 1892 and provided guidance to the entrance of Grays Harbor. Maintained by a dedicated local historical society, tours are offered with a chance to climb to the top and view the 3rd order Fresnell lense and spectactular 360 degree beach views.
Savor the Fresh Seafood
Whether you catch it yourself, dig it yourself, or buy it from one of the local seafood stores, enjoy the wide variety of local seafood while staying in Westport. Enjoy fresh salmon, tuna, rockfish, cod, oysters, razor clams, and steamers at the source. Westport is home to Washingtons largest commercial salmon fishing fleet!
Take a road trip
Westport is centrally located for many great day trips after you've explored our local area. Drive south to explore the Willipa harbor area and Astoria, Oregon beyond. Drive north to visit the Quinalt rain forest and Olympic Mountains.
Dig for Razor Clams
The razor clam season for Westport and the south beach usually lasts from fall to spring with digs in the evenings in the fall and morning/daytime in the spring. A unique Pacific Northwest experience which is fun for the whole family, we highly recommend giving it a try.
